PENN-TRAFFORD JUNIOR WRESTLING MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of Penn-Trafford Junior Wrestling is to provide an excellent opportunity for young children
to learn and fall in love with the sport of wrestling through showing technique and skills. Penn-Trafford Junior Wrestling will teach
the wrestlers good sportsmanship, teach the wrestlers to have fun, to promote friendship and mutual respect for others and to help the wrestlers
to develop strong ties with their Penn-Trafford teammates.
SOME CHANGES THIS SEASON
To be considered as an active wrestler of the Penn Trafford Junior Wrestling Program, you must participate in at least 2 of out of the 3 of the following: our weekly practices, compete in 4 of the 6 the weekly Keystone League Matches & compete in the Keystone League Tournament. Active wrestlers
of the Penn-Trafford Junior Wrestling Program are eligible to: attend the end of the year banquet, receive a participation trophy, receive a T-Shirt at the banquet, receive 2 free button photos, will earn the right for your accomplishments to be posted on our website, and after 4 years of
participation in the Junior Wrestling Program you will receive your 4 year jacket.
If you do not wish to participate in the weekly practices, Keystone Matches or the Keystone Tournament, but you do wish
for your child to wrestle off for the Area III team, your child does not sign-up for the Penn-Trafford Junior Wrestling Program in October. Instead, your child will come to the PT Area III weigh-ins. At that time you will only be responsible for paying the Area III entry fee, plus a $30 rental fee for
the PT uniform. Once you return the uniform to PT, your $30 will be returned. You will be given a list of coaches from Penn Trafford that you and your
child will be able to select from, who will coach your child at the Area III Tournament. You must pick coaches from this list only. Every attempt will be made to make sure that 2 of the coaches that you selected will coach your child during
the Area III Tournament.
Wrestlers who choose this path are not considered to be an active
wrestler for the Penn-Trafford Jr. Wrestling program and therefore are not eligible for the same privledges that are listed above for our active wrestlers. Wrestlers who choose this route will be in the Area III Team Photo, and if they place at Area's or States their results
will be posted in the regular paper by our board. If you submit an article on your own, you must include that your wrestler was a member of the Penn-Trafford Junior Wrestling Area III Team.
Code of Conduct for Practice
Dear Parents & Wrestlers,
It is very important that your children understand that they are merely guests at the High School and they need to behave properly while on the premises. We have already received some complaints from the school and we need to get this situation taken care of ASAP. Please take a moment to read the information below so you are clear of the behavior that is expected, and then make sure that your wrestler reads and understands it.
Please make sure that during practice all of your children and not just the wrestlers stay OUT of the Pool area & Main gym at all times. There is not to be any fooling around in the halls, locker areas, bathrooms, main gym or locker room areas. If the behavior of our wrestlers & siblings do not take a turn for the better, there is a very strong chance that our boys will not be allowed to practice when there are other activities at the school going on such as swim meets. If you have small children in the halls, please make sure that they are properly supervised at all times.
Because there are small children in the program, please make sure that the older children set good examples of themselves and exercise self control in and out of the wrestling room. Small children have big ears and hear the inappropriate language that has been going on. The language needs to stop. The boys also need to be respectful of their coaches and fellow wrestlers.
In addition, please make sure that your son knows that there are garbage cans in the hall where they are to dispose of their empty drink containers and food wrappers. Make sure that they clean up their mess! We have also had a large volume of items being left at the end of practice. Head Gear, shoes, clothes, etc... Make sure that your child takes a moment to check that they have all of their belongings.
Due to the volume of wrestlers in our program parents, grandparents & younger - older siblings are not permitted in the wrestling room during practice. Wrestlers in our program are to be between the ages of 5 & 12. If you have younger children who are not wrestlers, we ask that you do not leave them at the school while you run errands, we are not a babysitting service. If you are not a coach, helper or wrestler you must stay in the hall. You will be asked to leave the room or to remove your child if caught in the room during active practice. This is a safety issue and we thank you for your cooperation.
This is a very serious matter that is not to be taken lightly. Wrestlers will be given multiple warnings if they are out of line. The next step will be a phone call to the parents/guardians who will be asked to come pick their son up from practice. A coach will tell you when the wrestler will be allowed to return to practice. Upon their return, a parent or guardian will be asked to stay during practice to ensure proper behavior of their child.
Our wrestling program means a lot to many families and has been a integral part of Penn-Trafford Wrestling for almost 40 years, so we would hate for the behavior of a few children ruin the fun for everyone.
We thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding regarding this situation.
